Tommy (Curly) Graber 1952-2022

Glenn Thomas “Curly” Graber, age 69, of Hartville went home to be with the Lord on Winter Solstice, Wednesday December 21, 2022. He was born in Fort Myers, Florida on December 30, 1952 to the late Glenn Jacob and Vivian (Werstler) Graber. He graduated from Lake High School in 1971. He met Frankie Hunter at the Pantry and they married on August 10, 1974. He grew up working on the family farm and started his more than 40 year career for the Village of Hartville at the Waste Water Treatment Plant (30 years as plant manager). He was a member of the Hartville Church of the Brethren and was a beloved youth mentor and Kid’s Club volunteer, CROP walker and mission tripper. Tom and Frankie served as district youth leaders and his influence carries on today. He was a boy scout leader and led his son and grandson to Eagle Scout. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.

John Schulz 1953-2022

John M. Schulz, 69, passed away on December 8, 2022. He was born on February 27, 1953 the son of John and Eva Schulz. He was a man of faith and was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. John was the President of S. & S. Auto Sales Inc. for over 45 years. He always enjoyed working on cars. He looked forward to being with his friends and conversing in friendly discussions. He never met a stranger and was a good listener and enjoyed sharing stories.

Richard L. Yoder

 

Richard L. Yoder, 68, passed away on March 8, 2022. He was born on June 9, 1953 the son of the late Henry and Anna Mae Yoder. He and his wife owned and operated for 22 years, Yoder Small Engine Service. Richard was a proud member of the Eagles #2736, Turkeyfoot Sportsman Club, and Canton/McKinley Rifle and Pistol Club. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and the adventures he and Kathy would take riding side by side.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kathy A. Yoder; children Charlotte Wells, Beth (Ralph) Walters, Rich (Linda) Yoder II, and Sarah (Scott) Meek; grandchildren Ilya, Gavin, Brandon, Olivia, Lucas, Jaxon, Damein, Natacha and Cody; siblings Jim, Ken, Gene, and John; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Becky Jane Walters (Murphy) 1952 – 2021

Becky Jane Walters, age 69, of Akron, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. She was born in Canton on August 16, 1952 to the late Ralph and Idabelle Moore Murphy. In addition to her parents, Becky was preceded in death by Mark A. Walters. Becky will be greatly missed by her longtime companion, Bruce A. Kittinger; son, Mark (Krystal) Walters II; Nick (Tracy) Kittinger; grandchildren, Brandon, Chase, Zebulan and Zane; Calvin Logan and family; sisters, Barbara (James Hadad) Morr, Bonnie (Richard) Dzurovcin, Patricia (Chris) Brown; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Becky grew up in Uniontown, graduated from Lake High School and retired from Akron Children’s Hospital after 20 years of service. She was very proud of her service at the hospital, and received many Extra Mile Awards during her career. Becky’s favorite hobbies were the “three G’s,” gardening, gambling, and being a Grandma. Her son Mark was her pride and joy, and she loved him unconditionally.

Sandra Frey 1952 ~ 2020

port033Sandra Lee (Frey) Reemsnyder, age 68 of Canton, passed away at home on Christmas day with her loving son by her side. She was born in Akron, Ohio, and lived in Canton for over 20 years. She was a 1971 graduate of Lake High School and an avid gardener. Sandra was a member of Little Flower Catholic Parish. She was preceded in death by her father William L. Frey. Sandra is survived by her son Daniel, mother Rosemary (Recker) Frey, sisters Janice Dolly, Ruth Shoemaker, brother Bill (Tamie) Frey, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bill Cardwell 1953-2019

port014Dr. William H. Cardwell Jr., age 65, passed away unexpectedly on Monday March 18, 2019. He was born March 28, 1953 in Akron, Oh. to the late William H. Sr. and Elizabeth Cardwell. He was preceded in death by his wife Judi Cardwell. William will be deeply missed by his sister Barbara (Dan) McMillan; brother Douglas Cardwell; nieces and nephews Chad (Ashley) Cardwell, Michael (Erin) Cardwell, Patrick Cardwell, Katie Cardwell, Collin McMillan, Ethan McMillan and stepson Jason Scheldt.

Vickie (Halman) Hudson 1952-2020

Vickie Lynn Hudson, age 67 of Clinton, Ohio, passed away, after a brief illness, on July 3, 2020.

She was born in Akron, Ohio on October 12, 1952, the daughter of the late Robert and Vivian Yvonne (nee Shackelford) Halman.

She is survived by two sons, Ryan (Jennifer) Derhammer and Zachary Hudson, all of whom are incredibly fortunate to have called her Mom.

She also leaves behind her beloved granddaughter, Evelyn Hudson, and numerous relatives and friends, all of whom deeply loved her and who she deeply loved in return.

Vickie dedicated her life to her family and to the public, serving her fellow citizens throughout her career as a 9-1-1 dispatcher. She was recognized by her family and all who knew her as an incredibly strong, independent, and loving woman. The world will forever be a little brighter for the lives she touched, and she will be deeply, deeply missed.

Per her wishes, her remains were cremated and her ashes will be spread at the ocean in Florida by her sons, where many memorable family vacations were cherished.

Valerie K. (Forkum) Miller 1953-2019

age 66, of Navarre, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. She was born on February 5, 1953 in Canton to Duell Ray and Dorthea (Reichard) Forkum. Valerie was a 1971 graduate of Lake High School. She was a loving and dedicated mother and wife to her family. Valerie enjoyed tending to her flowers and researching her family’s genealogy back to their respective home countries.

Valerie is survived by her husband of 45 years, Morris; children Matthew (Dore’) Miller and Christopher Miller both of Navarre; sister Claudia (Ken) Weber of North Carolina.

Calling hours will be Friday, February 15 from 4-6 p.m. at the Heritage Reformed Baptist Church 5715 North Market Ave. Canton, Ohio 44721. Funeral Service will be Saturday February 16 at 10 a.m., final resting place is Mt. Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Aultman Hospice or Breast Cancer Research.

Steve Sommers

steveJanuary 14, 1952 – September 9, 2018

Stephen E. Sommers, age 66, of Hartville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday September 9, 2018 after fighting heart disease for 21 years. He was born in Canton on January 14, 1952 to the late Ervin and Ada (Yoder) Sommers. He was a 1971 graduate of Lake High School who married his high school sweetheart Deborah Wallbrown on September 22, 1973. Steve was a retired meat cutter from Giant Eagle. He was a member of Evermore Community Church. He enjoyed following high school and college sports. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and going to the ocean with family. 

He is survived by his wife Debbie; daughter Tiffany Sommers of Flint, MI; 4 siblings Ann Sommers, Nancee (Art) Moss, Miriam (Ken) Weirich, Jon Sommers; siblings-in-law Gary (Traci) Wallbrown, Tammy (Vern Troyer) Wallbrown, Mark (Becky) Wallbrown; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brother Paul Sommers.  

Calling hours are Thursday 5-8 PM at Evermore Community Church. Burial is Friday 10 AM at the church cemetery and Memorial services are Friday 11 AM in the church with Pastors Ross Miller and Butch Nisly officiating.
